DISCUSSION OF THE MONTH

Member Retention

Every month Performance Operations would like to hear from members of the community, as well as leaders, about their opinions surrounding a certain aspect of KSI. The hope is that we can have some meaningful discussions as well as some enlightenment, and possibly some reflections on how we operate as a community. As always Code of Conduct applies, be respectful of the opinions of others, and be open to new ways of thinking. We all come from different backgrounds in life as well as have developed different levels of experience within KSI. Some of us have been here for years, others only weeks, but all voices are valid. This topic will remain open for 1 months’ time before it is closed and a new discussion is started, however these topics will not be archived, but instead used as a reference point in the future.

This month we will be discussing Member Retention. How does your own division promote effective member retention? When is it considered important to make sure member retention is successful? Who's responsibility IS member retention? We want to hear about where you stand! You may answer this topic anyway you like, but please include your current rank and recruitment date for reference.

  • In your opinion, what are the best methods of member retention?
  • The best way to retain members is to keep in touch with them. Not only should the General of a squad be in touch but, the officers should really go out of their way to meet people. Ask questions. Get to know each other on a grander scale then "Yes we both play Siege.".                              Where are they from? What other hobbies do they have? There is a person behind that mic. Everyone lives a life outside Xbox and we are all here to share these moments with others.
  • Game with the Members. No matter what rank you are always make time to play together and show individual attention to members.
  • Send out personalized messages on occasion just to check on the well being of others. Use their name. Use examples of your past conversations. Example:"Hey, are you feeling any better then last time we spoke? How are you enjoying your time in KSI?"
  • INVITE PEOPLE TO PARTIES!!! Not just your friends. Not just those people you talk to constantly. New people, old members. Everyone.
  • Who's responsibility is it to ensure member retention remains strong in a division?
  • It's everyone PVT and up's responsibility. Member retention can be difficult and one person can make an impact but, ultimately everyone can go out of their way to meet new people and bring more members into your KSI family experience.
  • For what ranks is member retention considered most important?
  • The hardest to retain I would say is RCT-SGT. Often officers have been around a bit longer and shown more initiative. Officer retention is really important too. Making sure they feel important as well as are receiving proper training.
  • How is member retention expected to be maintained?
  • On a consistent basis.
  • At what rank in the community should members be actively retained? (Example: CPL, SGT, Officer, Co-Founder, etc.)
  • Every rank there should be someone supporting one another.

In your opinion, what are the best methods of member retention?

Actively engaging with individuals, making them feel at home, get them involved, help them find something they live in KSI and harness it.

Who's responsibility is it to ensure member retention remains strong in a division?

It's everyone's responsibility, everyone inside of the divisions is in part responsible for it well being, as a whole it is everyone's job to keep it healthy, because everyone is important, and without every person working together the division doesn't work.

For what ranks is member retention considered most important?

CPLs and PVTs and SGTs are where member retention is most important, they're the backbone of our community and they make up most of it, these ranks are also the most prone to leaving because they are new to the community and might not be involved yet.

How is member retention expected to be maintained?

By engaging with members inside the community so that they feel welcomed and want to stay.

At what rank in the community should members be actively retained? (Example: CPL, SGT, Officer, Co-Founder, etc.)

All ranks should be actively maintained, it wouldn't make sense not to. Every position in our community is important, therefore we should make an effort to keep every single one of them.

  • In your opinion, what are the best methods of member retention?
  • Party invites, make sure you invite people that are not just your friends but both old and new members of your squad. Also make sure you introduce them to others in the division as well to blur those lines. KSI  is family, make sure they feel comfortable. Send them a message if you havent heard from them in a while. Make sure things are okay. Make plans to game together. Also making sure that rank is just a formality, they know they know you are just like Joe schmoe
  • Who's responsibility is it to ensure member retention remains strong in a division?
  • EVEYONE, Seriously everyone in a squad should be making people feel welcome and should be reading out to play with fellow members of their squad
  • For what ranks is member retention considered most important?
  • All ranks but from PVT to SGT. those who are higher up most likely are here to stay, those in the lower ranks are still getting their footing and funding their place in this home we call KSI.
  • How is member retention expected to be maintained?
  • Consistently as a gaming a community is only successful with activity.
  • At what rank in the community should members be actively retained? (Example: CPL, SGT, Officer, Co-Founder, etc.)
  • All ranks as with out each and every person this community crumbles.

  • In your opinion, what are the best methods of member retention?
  • Engaging with your members and keeping them involved, doing game nights on different games to be sure to include everyone. its also very important to make sure that new members are properly integrated in to the community, finding out what games they play most and introducing them to other members with similar interests is a good way to help keep them interested and making connections right from the beginning.
  • Who's responsibility is it to ensure member retention remains strong in a division?
  • Over all i believe its everyone's responsibility but a lot of this responsibility would fall on the squad officers since they are the first connection most new members will have in KSI by recruiting them, helping them get integrated and getting them trained and promoted.
  • For what ranks is member retention considered most important?
  • Recruit, from the day they decide they want to be apart of a community we should be helping to keep members active and involved and helping them find their "why" the sooner they find their place within the community the better chance they have of staying with us.
  • How is member retention expected to be maintained?
  • Making everyone feel included right off the bat, include them in games if you don't play the same games introduce them to people who do. keep them involved in conversation, encourage them to get involved in community events or departments.
  • At what rank in the community should members be actively retained? (Example: CPL, SGT, Officer, Co-Founder, etc.)
  • all ranks are important and play a vital role within the community, but the most fluctuation happens in the lower ranks I feel like once you have moved past LT there is a stronger likely hood of remaining within the community.

Date Recruited: 02/13/2016

  • In your opinion, what are the best methods of member retention?
    • There are many successful methods of member retention but i tend to favor the more personal connections. Hosting squad meetings, game nights, and participating in events play a key role but its the relationships that we establish with each other that keep us in KSI.
  • Who's responsibility is it to ensure member retention remains strong in a division?
    • Its everyones responsibility. At a squad level, it tends to fall heavily on the officers to make sure that the members are being reach out to and cliques aren't being formed. Everyone should feel welcomed into the community no matter your rank.
  • For what ranks is member retention considered most important?
    • Member retention is the most important at a squad based level. These officers and members have the unique opportunity to hyper focus on establishing relationships with each other without being bogged down by duties. They see each other the most often and were brought together through mutual games and people.
  • How is member retention expected to be maintained?
    • Member retention at is core focuses on treating each other honestly and fairly. We want to make sure that people feel comfortable being who they are and interacting with their fellow squad mates. Making sure that structure is supplied by the officers and 7 staff so that these members have the opportunity to be around and interact with each other over common ground.
  • At what rank in the community should members be actively retained? (Example: CPL, SGT, Officer, Co-Founder, etc.)
    • Its important that everyone should be actively retained. We all play a role in the way that KSI functions. More focus should be put on newer members as they are being introduced to the community and still learning the ways but even 7's and board members should be given the opportunity to interact with other members of the community.
