Black Ops II: Biggest Change?

Black Ops II, Treyarch's newest addition to the now-predictable annual Call of Duty series, had hit stores this past Tuesday. But, how has this game fared in comparison with the other installments of the familiar multi-billion dollar franchise?

According to sales, the Call of Duty series appears to be running full speed ahead. Giving what many game stores around the world have said, made a "crushing amount of profit." During the midnight launch period at GameStop alone, Black Ops II racked up over $1 million in sales, smashing previous records and landing the title of biggest release in the store's history. This is by no means a surprise for many, however, Modern Warfare 3, the previous installment in the series, held the record for day-one sales at the electronic retailer until its crown was stolen by its own kin.

Now that it is apparent Call of Duty will once again put other games to shame from an economic perspective, how did it fare in the review section, the thing that really matters to gamers in the grand scheme of things?

According to review-analyzer gamespot.com, so far, so good. Black Ops II currently holds a position of 84/100 on the site, from a averaged score of 44 critical reviews, 40 of which fell into the "positive" category, placing the game at a cool #2 in the big-title sphere (on the Xbox 360), behind Halo 4, at 87/100, and tied with Assassin's Creed 3. However, the handheld PlayStation Vita version of the game,

Black Ops II: Declassified, flopped at a very negative 29/100, from an average of four reviews.

But how did the game(s) fare with the players themselves? The review scores of the gamers tell a very different side to the story. On the Xbox 360, players gave Black Ops 2 a harsh 4.2/10, averaged out from 701 ratings, perhaps alluding to the frustration born from the fact that Call of Duty has rarely changed its money-bags formula. Black Ops 2: Declassified, however, garnered a mixed score of 6.3/10 from 168 reviews.

So the outlook is a mixed bag. While a hit with critics and the droves of players battling across consoles, the gamers themselves were more critical. Perhaps Activision will take this situation and turn it around for the series' good, altering the formula and creating an altogether better experience for the loyal fans, who deserve a bit of a reward for sticking with the franchise for so long. But Call of Duty has been making billions without changing a bit, so it is rather doubtful anything other than a fresh coat of paint will change for a while.

[i make all of my edits in bold, so I greatly prefer it if people don't bold their article submissions. Once it is finished, and is ready to go to the front page, if you want to bold it, that is fine, but while it is here in the news room, I prefer it be in normal text.

As far as 'tasha's comment... Light blue is my favorite color, and it makes it very easy to read the article on the forums. However, since the editing area is white, light blue doesn't show up well.]

Overall though, the article is fairly well written (allowing for authors to keep their own writing style...) I didn't see much that really needed done about it.
