'Broken City' originally debuted on the silver screen in January, earlier this year. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray April 23, 2013. The film featured Mark Wahlberg and Russel Crowe. The film opened along with the horror film, 'Mama' and action film, 'The Last Stand.' Of the three films during that week, 'Broken City' totaled the second-highest weekly gross income with a little over $11.25 million, according to figures provided by boxofficemojo.com.

Billy Taggart (Mark Wahlberg) is a former NYPD officer currently self-employed as a private investigator. Long gone are Taggart's days as a police officer; chasing down drug dealers, gang-bangers, and other criminals. His days as a P.I. involve being paid to take pictures on cheating husbands and wives by their spouse. It's not a very profitable business as his secretary, Katy Bradshaw, (Alona Tal) points out to Taggart. They need more money and they need it quickly.

At the same time, the fictitious Mayor of New York City, Nicholas Hostetler, (Russel Crowe) is facing an election year and has a legitimate contender, Jack Valliant (Barry Pepper). Being old-time friends, Hostetler hires Taggart for a job to help swing the vote in his favor. Unfortunately for Taggart, the job turns out to be a whole lot more than just taking pictures of a cheating wife, Cathleen Hostetler, (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and presses the biggest moral decision of his life.

The progression of this film flows smoothly in a linear fashion. Some may find it boring but for those who enjoy seeing equal emphasis on all elements of plot, this is a film to watch. That's not to say, however, that the movie is without action. Car chases, shootouts, plot twists – all the exciting parts of a great thriller are there; they're just a little more drawn-out than your typical movie of this genre. “Marky Mark†also performs phenomenally with some considering this to be his best performance in a serious role to date.

(Afterthoughts:  I've found multiple different opinion regarding where to place a comma or period after something in parentheses.  I've been taught that it can go before or after but I'm unsure about that.  Perhaps commas go before the bits in parentheses and a period goes after?  I dunno.)
