Newtown CT, Our Hearts go Out to You

Today, Friday, is more than just you're average day. For most Friday is the best day because it signals the end of a hard work week. It welcomes the weekend as we all relax and let out a sigh of relief. Unfortunately for a few, that is not possible. It saddens me and many around the world today to hear of the news bound from Newtown, Connecticut: 20 children, 6 adults were murdered in a scene of complete and udder confusion.

 

Today at around 9:30am a gunman known as Adam Lanza opened fire on Sandy Hook Elementary with the grades kindergarten through fourth, tragically murdering 26 people. Adam apparently walked into the school with no prior acknowledgement to anyone and started the tragedy. Lanza's mother was a teacher at the school and was believed to be part of the reason for the shooting, but unfortunately we do not have any further information as to why he did what he did. While focusing on the area of the school where his mother was teaching, he opened fire on one section of the school and two different classrooms. While in utter chaos 6 adults and 20 children were murdered; including his mother. Reports say that the gunman carried four weapons, and wore black clothing as well as a bullet proof vest. He was clearly armed for the intent to hurt others. Later the gunman was subdued by local law enforcement and was killed in a gunfight.

 

This event is among one of the deadliest shootings in American history and will be the subject of much debate in the following weeks, months and years. Obama spoke with the nation today and has ordered that all federal buildings flags be lowered to half staff until December 18th. Should we be concerned about gun laws? Should teachers be allowed to carry weapons as means of self-defense? According to one Texas school district, they should. The school district will allow teachers to bring weapons as means of defense coming this fall. This marks the first school in America and it may not be the last.

 

Today families lost friends, sons, daughters, cousins and grandchildren. They were more than children, but loved ones that we hold nothing closer to our hearts than. From every part and everyone in the KSI Gaming Community, we give our prayers and our thoughts to those afflicted by this awful tragedy. Some of the members have children of their own and are truly heartbroken towards parents and families that lost members of their family. Everyone should remember to count their blessings tonight and include these heartbroken people in their prayers.

Among those interviewed after the event took place, many teachers had followed the precautions they had practiced no 2 months earlier. Parents and students were also extremely shaken by the events with most worried about a loved one in the school during the shooting. Most teachers heard the shots and noises and after checking the seen kept the children safe in the corners of the classroom. After the gunman came into one classroom, a young boy grabbed his friends and ran out the door, waiting for his friends to catch up. He might have saved their lives, but he never once though about his own. to the teachers, staff, and the principal who gave her life, we thank you with much gratitude. You saved many lives and made a huge impact on saving the lives that you did by giving yours.
