I was just wondering what the purpose of this welcoming committee is and the goal it's intended to achieve.  I ask because it's been done before with great effort and intentions with regard to facilitating new join  assimilation,  activity, knowledge transfer, and retention.  With that in mind, I was just curious about the current committee's function and desired end state and how it compares to previous attempts.  I only ask because I care

The welcoming committee has been re-vamped by myself for one reason, member retention. It is our sole purpose, and is why we have decided to implement it again. FI has seen hard times recently, and a huge factor in that is that our members aren't staying. This is due to an overwhelmingly poor recruit retention program, and the purpose of this committee is to combat that. We as the leaders of FI are responsible for this, and thus it is our responsibility to fix the above listed issues.
