The Marathon Gamers is a group of friends who raise money for charities by playing video games for long periods of time, while playing they stream on their website the game and a webcam the entire length of the marathon. Over the past three years they have raised just under $2,500 for the Child's Play Charity and the Texas Children's Hospital. Starting on October 12th, they will be hosting their first 100 Hour Marathon in which they will be raising money for the American Cancer Society. All money donated will go to the American Cancer Society in honor of the creator of the Marathon Gamers' grandfather, Robert, who was diagnosed and is still battling with stage 4 Adenocarcinoma, an advancing form of lung cancer. The event will be hosted on the Marathon Gamers website at www.marathongamers.org.

Donors who watch the live stream will be able to put up challenges for the gamers to complete as a way to get more out for their donation. Challenges can range from singing a song, dancing, to even eating toasted ants! Most challenges can be emailed to challenge@marathongamers.org prior to donating to make sure that it is something that can be done.

For more information about the group and the upcoming marathon you can head over to www.marathongamers.org, there will also be a countdown to the event, which starts on October 12th!
