Suggestions - What can we do better?

Good afternoon FI,

 

It may be harder for some of you to see the bigger picture than others.  I will be the first to tell you that we're definitely on the right track.  There's a TON of potential leaders I've personally come across through the ranks and I see a great deal of stability as well as steady (slow, but sure) growth of our division.  There's a lot of things we have going for us.  I'll jot those down bullet style to refresh your memory:

 

- We have a FULL leadership staff, but still have room to grow so we're not even close to attrition.  

- We have our own hand picked staff to host tournaments and various events that from time to time make it to our very own youtube channel.

- We have a training program created and soon will be implemented to standardize knowledge across all ranks likely to roll out fully in about 2 weeks.  

- We have a bi-monthly officer get together with our CoDiv, KSI ACIDVAPOR 7, in place to bring things up and collaborate ideas.  

- We hold an General's meeting that we invite officers to every week at 7pm est.  

- Our own divisional crown's game is seeing increasingly more activity recently.  

- We've constructed several different teams among all our squads to include quick scoping teams, headhunters, and zombie hunters.  

- We have a functioning Welcoming Committee to properly indoctrinate our new members to make them feel at home and provide an adequate turnover to the squad they're in.  

- Forums activity is slowly but surely starting to pick back up, future looking promising. 

- Several of us have registered and already kicking butt on www.ksiweekendwarfare.org

 

That was just a quickie review of what we have going on at the surface of our division's operations.  With that being said, I'd like to hear suggestions or comments from any and all of you.  Have a suggestion about something that could be put in effect?  Did someone simply make your day.  Have a solution to an ongoing issue?  Please keep it positive and informative.  Your opinion DOES matter.  I know some of yall are really creative, and others are crazy hard workers so lets put our brains together and crank out the BEST division we possibly can!

Div wide game nights, multiple lobbies full of the weirdest division ever (FI) on Blops 2 or Halo 4 , or any game the majority of us play. This will help better relations amongst the squads and bring our div ever closer to looking like a true family. Not mandatory, but ENCOURAGED, " join in our div wide game night, whether you want to participate fully, or just hang out. Come and play a couple of games with your online family " we can start off with little squad game nights on per-set dates and when we get the hang of it, and see the spots start to fill up, we can try to incorporate a div wide game night. Just a suggestion.

Not to be mean but I would like to see the twitch live stream on the weekends, the only reason why I say this is because including myself a lot more people can come or stay longer. I don't know how many people have the same problem I do but my folks get mad at me if I'm on for to long and thursday is a school day so it just makes it worst so that my suggestion

Although it would be a big change to all that watch, I think he has a point. I use the main computer at my house now, and its hard to watch it with a family saying either they need it, or to get off already. I know most ppl have their own personal laptops/computers, but its hard for the few that don't.

 

Considering KSI is becoming filled with quite a bit of ppl in school and college, it would probably become more productive on the weekends rather than the weeks.

I know the reason Livestreams are on Thursdays is because weekends are usually when squad meetings are held.  Not just in FI but all around.  Maybe Friday night would be better?  Secondly, this is more about the organization of the pinned threads in our Division section, but there's a lot of important stuff at the top and it's all pinned.  If it's possible to make some kind of sub-section within our Division for the important stuff - we could move all of that there labeled something like "Reading Material" or whatever.  Then, we could pin all the squad chats on the main list.

Sounds like a great idea.  When EVERY squad has some great activity, there were game nights on multiple nights of the week for each squad and a lot of the time they merged together to form div game nights.  However, we've never officially had a set game night schedule.  I'm all for this.  All we need is someone to roger up and say I got this.  I'll support that person in every way possible to get it off the ground and running.  Eventually, in time, it'll be a regular thing and folks will just naturally follow suit with it

Thursdays is a weird day, however, KSI's twitch streams randomly throughout the day on any given day esp the weekends.  This would be a question/suggestion for Production's Team to tackle. If I'm not mistaken, Kreaky and someone else have created an FI twitch channel.  I can see about getting access to it from him and whenever we game, I'll live stream.  I have the bandwidth for it.  And of course whoever else has access to it can do the same.  Just use it more often is what I'm thinking - and advertise it more.

^ Great points Force.  And you are correct on the live streams.  7s have various meetings we have to go to, squads do a lot of their work on the weekends to include meetings... so for the one live stream that matters a lot to the upper leadership in KSI, Thursdays are the ones they want us to check out and show up to.  Also, once upon a time we used to do what was called the Thursday Weekly Update with a panel of selected members and all to discuss KSI happenings and current events in teh gaming world.  Was great while it lasted, but it has since been turned into a game night but has not been forgotten.  I suspect ksi live stream will be used again to help address concerns about the move to support 3 platforms.... or at least I would use that to address a large audience of KSI at once. 

 

As for the archive.  Section mods, which I am one for our division section, do not have privileges to do that unfortunately.  Also, we can only have 10 pinned topics at a time (though some divs violate this rule).

L.E.A.D classes are run by higher ups I thought? I don't think we can actually do anything like that in just FI, but we could start getting more diverse with the sgt workshops by making them generally into workshops for any under a officers position???

 

Another idea lol. Lets try to get anybody below a Lt into some meetings and help them know more about ksi, and try to prepare them and get them into a prosperous mindset, so that when they DO become a sgt, and higher, they can have a grasp at what they need to do and the knowledge to help them do so.

LEAD - was created and is still ran by none other than the Queen herself.  As a Senior Director baring a lot of the responsibilities of running this community on her shoulders while trying to keep things moving can be very taxing on her time and energy.  LEAD mentors, those who host various courses, have already been hand picked & identified by herself.  Once the mentors are properly trained by QueenJess and she feels confident they will carry out the training sessions as effective as she wants, then they'll begin offering more LEAD courses for all of KSI to attend.

Thank you for pointing that out Bear.  This thread is more geared toward what we can do right here in Forced Induction to improve our division.  With that being said, I have my own training program I've created.  This weekend there will be a block of several different times I'll be getting with the Gens and above to train them as I'd like them to train everyone else.  For the 7's it's merely a formality to familiarize them with how the course will be ran.  For the Gens, it'll be a first time official learning experience as students.  I will then get with them again on another date to go over the same course materials but instruct them on how to facilitate this training program within their squads.  The information was gathered from right here on the forums and strung together with a little verbage from myself to fill in the gaps to include orders passed down from Seniors over xbl and may not necessarily be posted anywhere.  In about 2 weeks, the rest of the 7s and Gens will conduct trainings across the board to include Cpls-Captains.  What will be passed in these trainings should be verbatim across the board to keep from people being trained differently.  We should all have the same base knowledge as we move up the ranks and this is just my way of standardizing it across the board.  

 

So official FI training is on its way and will be made available to all very soon.

As for what we're doing on our FI youtube channel I'm still looking for each of you to produce some beast clips, (don't edit them) upload from theater mode so that it's saved in your file share joint, drop me a message so I can do my thing.  If you look on the channel, you'll see a clip I did for myself to string together a couple clips. Looks halfway decent.  I'm no vid editor or anything, but think that would be something fun for everyone to have up there at some point.  Achiev is working on more involved projects like what he did for the zombies clip he has up there.  What he's doing will take hours of recording and 3x's as long to render/upload to youtube but is pretty cool final product.

The Gens have entered "DoC's Dojo" and have been trained in the ways of officers.  Next will need to train them on the sgt's portion and then the rest of the 7's will do it again with the Gens one more time to ensure the info gets passed the way we need them too.  Once we're confident in that, we'll unleash the Gens to train their squad appropriately in a format standard across our division.

Soon, Acid will pull the trigger on an idea for the entire division to roll with.  Alternating focus points in a 3 week rotation.  1 week = focus on recruiting, 2nd week = focus on training, 3 week = focus on gaming.  Will be rough transition to start most likely, but once fully integrated I think it would keep folks fresh and steer clear from a boring routine.  More word to come out on that from him.

As you can tell, many tournaments are coming and going through this division and it's up to the members to get in on it.  Gaming is what we do.  And tournaments is a great way to showcase skill and keep the minds off of wuteva issues and back to where we came from - gaming.

"Superstar of the week and month" I believe it was. Its legitely a thread that only GENS can post In pertaining to who they thought their best/mvp/most recognized member was, basically. And I was wondering if we could try something of this matter, a little topic where the ppl who are showing their activity, or truly helping the squad the most can get a little recognition.

 

But only like once a month, something close to Member of the Month, just to show that we are noticing our members. Just a thought man.

There's quite a few divisions that do their own sort of awards deal.  Personally, I chose not to follow suit as to not take away from our presence in the AAP section.  There's a BUNCH of awards everyone should be nominating each other for in the AAP section that highlights what they've done, accomplished, and simply by nominating them whether they get the award or not recognizes their efforts.

Of The Month Awards for October are available for nominations now!  These occur EVERY month, so having our own division award program is superfluous in my opinion. But others may feel differently.  I can bring this up in the next Gen meeting to see what the 7s & Gens think of it.

 

As it stands right now, I don't think we utilize the AAP section enough as it is together as a division.

I'll get around to it sometime.  Bigger things in the works to devote attention to.  But that banner won't last too long after I tackle that...

 

REALLY need everyone to report to their Gens with what platforms they're getting or whether or not they're sticking with 360, getting ghosts or not etc... BIG things in the works.

GLFI already created on cod ghosts. The system is still buggy but we have over a dozen members now I believe. Ill shoot you another invite tonight. The invite system suck btw...

Unfortunately it will never happen.  The ranks have been tested and manipulated time and time again over the course of a decade and what we have now has stood the test of time and serves as the best structure for what we do here.  Instead of Colonel, at one point we had what was called "majors" who were essentially already Generals and would be in line to take a squad split or act as Gen during his/her absence. However, this is the exact same thing as what a 1Capt does.  To keep prestige and pride among each rank this is what we have to work with.  The only rank in KSI that's debatable at all is SSgt, as this is up to the division leader's discretion to use or not. 

 

I completely agree that cpls probably get bored where they are, but that's an indirect way to nudge them to just cross on over and put KSI in their gt.  If you're going to be around long enough, and actually aspire to be something more than a number among the thousands, then get serious and change the gt & put that work in.

 

Also, in regards to Cpls, we don't keep as many of these guys for long as you may think.  So adding ranks to the lower members is superfluous as many of these Cpls don't stick around long enough to either appreciate what they're apart of, attend a cpl's show down to potentially earn a name change, or flat out don't want to be here or intentionally choose to stay at that rank..... 

 

If you poke around on the forums, you'll see this very same question and similar proposals dating as far back as the construction of the forums itself and several recent ones as well - all of which have been shot down.

I don't mean to come off as a bonehead and shoot down suggestions, but this particular one simply can't be done at this time.  However, perhaps by the time you're a division leader things may change and you can push this harder & maybe get it adopted or at least have a trial squad.

I'd love to see just a barrage of spam/correspondence everywhere from FI members.  Super activity here, on FB, Twitter, Twitch, kik, xbl obviously... everywhere.  Complete overwhelming sensation of communication everywhere.  For all things important and not.

I marked the entire div section as read and kept an eye out for what topics are being used and I am furious at how bad activity has gone. Sure, a post here or there, but honestly... I don't mean to sound like a Richard, but these forums are an even greater home than my Gt, it saddens me to see such an amazing div, with such great officers AND members have minimal usage on here...

My suggestion? I would like some ppl offer their time to join me in going around the squad tag(s) and talking about the forums. It's time we increase our activity here, to help increase our activity on clan ops. Everybody needs to start sending messages, MASS messages, regarding forums activity...

Grab me up anytime you see me on (cept for Wed/Thurs) and I'll join you on this 100% of the time unless there's something to take care of.  Love the idea. You're 100% correct.  BUT also know it's the holidays and some leeway should be given for those without access to the forums while visiting fam or while fam comes over.  Come the first weekend of the new year, I expect us to be back on full throttle!
