Idk 23 Posted April 19, 2021 Report Share Posted April 19, 2021 Being a leader Being a leader doesn’t necessarily mean being a General of a squad or a 7’s staff member of a division or even a Director. Being a leader can happen at any rank, and we must keep in mind to always lead our flock for a better tomorrow. If you see something that needs fine tuning or could use a different spin be that gal or guy to lead that change. Not necessarily going against the grain of what your squad or div is about but to always be there to assist in weak link of the fence per say. We all want what’s best for the longevity or our squads and divisions but without people willing to stand tall and lead that sustainment will fade. Be strong, stay vigilant and always remember to have fun! Perseverance Within the last couple of weeks KSI has gone through a drastic change. Between losing a Division, and losing a respective leader. Keep in mind that we are always here to try and support each other. To game and laugh. In the end we are here as a Community but most of all a family. We all want to strive to make that the best experience possible for all our members and our leaders.Department Notes - 4/14 April 12, 2021 Education: 1. All workshops have been revamped! The workshops have been updated, reorganized, redundant information removed, new information added, reformatted to all fit the same format, and some workshops now have training scenarios (basic training and leadership aspects have scenarios for now with more to come) 2. Brand new workshop has been created- Leadership Aspects (info/application) 3. The Train the Trainer, Squad Leadership, and Divisional Leasership workshops have been archived and are no longer CEP workshops. 4. Look for two new workshops on the way! Advanced Officer Responsibilities (info/application) and Communication and Problem Solving (info/application) *Application means scenarios included in the workshops Information: Leadership Highlights- every two weeks we are pushing out a new leadership highlight. Each highlight covers a different topic/quality that helps leaders continue to grow! Expect big things to come to the community soon! Clan Ops Cross divisional problems Please remember that any issue involving yourself or any of your members that involves anyone from another division that all the information you have be brought to your General and 7 staff. All cross divisional problems are handled by Directors or above. Chain of Command Reminder that any issue that is to be brought up needs to follow chain of command. If you are a Staff Sergeant and you are involved with a issue please bring it to the next rank up. It is important that we follow the chain of command so that our officers can learn to handle issues on there own and to help them learn how to handle different issues. __Reaching Out__ Sometimes when being an officer within the community situations can come up that you may not have the knowledge or abilities to handle. There is no shame in reaching out to someone to ask a question or get some advice. There are many people within the community with a plethora of knowledge and advice they can share with you! Don't be afraid to reach out. __Get Involved__ There's a lot of good info on the forums and if your having problems navigating the forums there’s a forums workshop that you can take to help you out , and you will also receive a reward in the forums for taking workshop __Member Retention__ Every rank from RCT all the way up is important! Too often do we see CPLs and PVTs getting lost within the daily doings of the community. As leaders and members of the community it is our job to ensure all members are being included in all activities within the squad and division. If there is a member you haven't spoken too or seen in a squad meeting for a while, reach out to them, see what's happening. Ask them what kind of games and activities they want to see in the squad. Make sure to plan in your schedule to actually hang out with the members. We all know first hand officer cores can become clichey etc. But it’s our job as officers to be out there hanging and building relationships within our squad with the members. Bring the energy, bring the hype, and bring a good time to these peeps. We all join KSI to have fun, if things aren’t fun it’s your job to bring that vibe and energy back. As that is what drives activity and potential officers. Remembering Our Lower Ranks As officers and leaders sometimes we forget that we have members that are below the officer ranks. These are the heartbeat of our squads and divisions. Please remember to reach out to you members on a regular basis. Being positive and reaching out to them can sometimes produce new officers. So be that positive light and leader our squads and divisions need. Being An Active Listener A wise man once said, listen with the intent to understand, do not listen with the intent to reply. This is a powerful message so many of us forget time to time. Whether it’s ideas for a game night or improvements to KSI as a whole. Or even hearing a members bad day out and understanding where their frustrations and stress are coming from. Listening with the intent to understand goes so much further then with the intent to just spit ball a reply back. Sometimes saying nothing is larger then saying something. Be patient and kind with one another but always use your best judgement as well. After all this is one big family of strangers trying to make a place for all to be welcomed and valued. We got to make sure that we are staying to the standard and making sure that join/rejoin applicant are coming in with the correct uniform Maintenance So just like a motor vehicle squads and divisions need routine maintenance. This comes in so many forms in KSI, such as managing the discord servers, the omega, the squad clubs etc, it also comes from member retention and maintaining active, prosperous members and officers alike. The maintenance that takes place especially in clan ops is detrimental. With out it, we have crowded inaccurate data, artificial numbers, and become ultimately disorganized. Maintenance also can be done with members, teaching them how to use and navigate our servers using the correct tags and pings, as well as our forums and other social media bases. Sadly if no one spreads the good word no one will know how or what things are there for or how to use them properly. All in all clan ops is a machine that needs routine and regular maintenance so just like your tire runs low on air the same can happen in your squad just slightly different. Patience and understanding KSI has people from not only all over the country facing time zone challenges but also people all around the entire world, from the UK to Ireland to Japan. Literally all over. Our dialects, manorisms, slang may not always match what we think. KSI also has people from all walks of life, from senior citizen age to the young little whippersnappers that join us regularly. This is why patience is so important. Also a lot of us work two full time jobs, have kids, families, home projects, car projects etc so being patient is direly important. Understanding is also crucial. For example, say Slick 7 needs to get with Swag 77 for a critical KSI matter, but Swag 77 is eating pickles and can’t be bothered. Slick 7 does not blow up Swag demanding he respond to the situation or DM every other member of leadership. Instead he understands Swag is busy with real life and Swag will do his best to get back to Slick 7 in a timely manner when able. After all it is a volunteer community so time and effort are donated for the price of nothing. Real life comes first we all know this so have some understanding in all KSI matters. A Co-Founder or higher in the division is responsible for posting the sign-ups. No other members should be posting the sign ups. The rosters can be changed up until the sign-ups close two hours before the event begins. All members who compete must be documented on Omega before September 25th 2021. For any member that had a join/rejoin app in before September 25th but was recruited after, please reach out to KSI Akame 7 and it will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Any member recruited into KSI and entered into the CMS after September 25th will not be eligible to compete in the team-based events. They will be eligible for the Forums Poll **7's Playing with Members** 7's will be permitted to play in all regular events alongside the members. HOWEVER, each 7 will only be able to participate in 2 events in their division, no less, nor more, no excuses. In the event of an emergency, Directors are permitted to fill in for 1 event for each division they are over to ensure participation. **Captains Meeting and Discord** Like we did with Fall Classic last year, Captains Meeting will be held on discord for all events except for Karaoke. When signing teams up, Divisional 7's staff will be asked to include the Team Captain's Discord username in the post. The team captain will then be added as a friend by KSI DropShot 7 on discord, and once accepted will be invited to the Annual Events Team Captains discord server. Please make sure that your captains are on the lookout for this friend request and accept/join the server in a timely manner. If there are any changes to who will be your team captain, please reach out to KSI Akame 7 and let him know as soon as possible. Discord: Darth Akame#7781 **Challenge Poll** There will be a Challenge Poll posted as part of the event in the Fall Classic Section of the forums. It will open at 8 p.m. EST on Thursday and close at 8 p.m. EST on Sunday. Votes will count toward participation for divisions, and members must reply to the topic to receive the Fall Classic 2021 Award. **Divisional Cup** As with all of our Annual Events, the final standings of Fall Classic will contribute to the Divisional Cup standings. The division that has earned the most points across all Annual Events at the end of the year will be crowned as the 2021 Divisional Cup Winner at the awards show in January. **Scoring Guide** The final results for Fall Classic will be calculated based off both participation and placements in each event. For a division to get a participation point for the Challenge Poll, they must garner 20 votes in the poll. For the rest of the events, each team that shows up will receive one point each for their division. A division can earn a maximum of five (5) points for an event if both teams show up and one of the teams places first. If both teams place in the top 3, additional points will only be given for the highest placedteam. 1st = +3 points 2nd = +2 points 3rd = +1 point Participate = 1 point per team that participates. We got to make sure that we are staying to the standard and making sure that join/rejoin applicant are coming in with the correct uniform Maintenance So just like a motor vehicle squads and divisions need routine maintenance. This comes in so many forms in KSI, such as managing the discord servers, the omega, the squad clubs etc, it also comes from member retention and maintaining active, prosperous members and officers alike. The maintenance that takes place especially in clan ops is detrimental. With out it, we have crowded inaccurate data, artificial numbers, and become ultimately disorganized. Maintenance also can be done with members, teaching them how to use and navigate our servers using the correct tags and pings, as well as our forums and other social media bases. Sadly if no one spreads the good word no one will know how or what things are there for or how to use them properly. All in all clan ops is a machine that needs routine and regular maintenance so just like your tire runs low on air the same can happen in your squad just slightly different. Patience and understanding KSI has people from not only all over the country facing time zone challenges but also people all around the entire world, from the UK to Ireland to Japan. Literally all over. Our dialects, manorisms, slang may not always match what we think. KSI also has people from all walks of life, from senior citizen age to the young little whippersnappers that join us regularly. This is why patience is so important. Also a lot of us work two full time jobs, have kids, families, home projects, car projects etc so being patient is direly important. Understanding is also crucial. For example, say Slick 7 needs to get with Swag 77 for a critical KSI matter, but Swag 77 is eating pickles and can’t be bothered. Slick 7 does not blow up Swag demanding he respond to the situation or DM every other member of leadership. Instead he understands Swag is busy with real life and Swag will do his best to get back to Slick 7 in a timely manner when able. After all it is a volunteer community so time and effort are donated for the price of nothing. Real life comes first we all know this so have some understanding in all KSI matters. Clan Ops Recruiting If your interested in becoming a officer and wanting to learn the first steps in becoming a officers, recruiting is the best place to start. If you’re interested in recruiting please reach out to one of your officer staff and they will prep you in getting training on recruiting and everything you need in becoming a officer. [Officers and Div Leadership Only] : - make sure you guys are pushing recruiting, with the 1:1 fluffing method that has been implemented, recruiting should be push hard so we can get rid of fluff that’s within the squads ~Training Your Replacement and Officer Promotion~ -With squad growing within the community, it’s always a great thing to see, and promotion is always great thing to award for the work that is put out for officer that are going above a beyond , but it’s also important that with squad growth that we start build the officer to member ratio , we can’t lose sight that the more we grow the more officers we need to manage the amount of members that we gain , to also prevent a big fluctuations of future fluff. Also be advise , officers promotion shouldn’t just be given but earned. Fluffing Update I know it been a while for update , but here is a update on how I want all squadto fluff. First off I want to thank everyone for all the hard work you guys put out to the community every single week, the result of your hard work , clan ops just hit over 900 members, we haven’t been there in a while , but for the update , I want everyone to establish and potential fluff list of all inactive members that you haven’t heard from in a while , put that list in **squad fluff channel** for each squad , the fluffing method is going to be [ 1 to 1 ]. **[1:1]** So for every new rct that gets promoted to pvt , one potential fluff gets removed. __PLEASE BE ADVISED__ to make sure to stay on top of fluffing list and promotion list so we keep things clean and consistent to make sure that squads are staying health and growing , love you guys and let’s to continue to be great Department Notes T&E Notes This Saturday 16th October T&E will be hosting a Destiny 2 4v4 control, head to the T&E section on the forums to get signed up AAP: Well done and congratulations to all the members who took part in both Fall Classic and 10th year anniversary polls, your awards have been added to your forums profiles and look spectacular!
