Holding a few workshops should help with giving members confidence to post. I have heard that because they don't know how to nominate they don't. I will promote the AAP on the weekly update on Fridays and was thinking about hosting a AAP topic this Friday. I would like to have a few of you on the panel since i am still a newb. Unfortunately, i gotta drop from AAP, as a new department cap has been instituted, and i was a few over the limit, lol. I need to drop out of AAP and T&E so i can keep Judge and Forum Mod. So I want to break this down - Promoting OTMs more, how would you recommend doing this? With 2 directors on the team I would have though alot of leaders would be getting the info, unless Im wrong. Would more clarity at the Div meeting be an idea? I am more than happy to type up a little something on what the Dept is doing each week. I was thinking paring up experienced AAP staff with inexperienced staff to host a workshop with each division at least twice a year. You can send out messages and talk about them in meetings all you want, but a lot of times it goes through one ear and out the other. I think if we had our directors nominate members, I think that would be a great start. Members tend to do what their leadership does. If they don't see their leadership active on the forums, they wont be either. You cant push forums if you're not active yourself. Directors, Div leaders etc should (in my opinion) nominate and be active. They realistically should be the most active. Practice what you preach sorta thing. But like Scottie says, it usually works out more or less. But to get it back up and rolling again, we need to set the example as staff, and we need leaders to set the example too. So let's get going, right? On another note, I know you haven't seen very much of me lately, wrapping up work and getting ready to start the last year of my master's degree. We have a certain time that we wait until we decide is enough (one week without any activity) it's well over that time, which is why we've asked the staff to vote. Is it widely used? One could for example argue that we cannot know this yet, since we haven't seen the fruits of it yet on a larger scale. In wider terms, is it an idea that better the community? But I do also agree that we don't yet know how much it will be used, or if people will take advantage of the new feature and its simplicity. So while I think that is a good idea and that it will become a very useful and productive asset to the site and web-ops as a whole, we don't really have the evidence to support the feature being widely used in KSI yet. Hopefully the feature will be taken advantage of by those wanting to become involved in a department. I'm at a bit of a loss to be honest, anyone else want to chime in? But I do think it will better the community over time. I think so far, it has been productive in the short time it's been around. All departments will eventually use it.
