DIVISION NOTES (10/31/18) ======================== Fall Classic: For those who won prizes in the Fall Classic, please make sure to use the Ops server for divisional prizes as channels have been made to help this endeavor. For any individual prizes please PM KSI Ace 7 on the forums. Divisions have until Turkey Bowl to claim their prizes, but the preferred method is that they are claimed sooner rather than later! Turkey Bowl: Signups will be posted on the first of November. Please get with your members and push the events and get teams set up. Event sign ups will close 48 hours prior to the event starting so that T&E can properly staff its events. New 7's Notes Format: A new 7's meeting note format has been posted in all of your division sections. Please take a look at the new format at your earliest convenience. Any questions can be directed to KSI Gambit 7 at the Division meeting this Thursday, or you can message any senior with questions. Complacency: Lets remember to never become complacent when looking at our divisions and squads. If you’re division or squad isn’t moving at all, figure out the issues causing the stagnation and address them. If that means fluffing, promoting officers, reassessing squads then let's do what's necessary to combat the stagnation. Speaking Up: If ever you have an idea, suggestion, or concern then please don't be afraid to speak up to a leader within your Division. We are all here to help each other grow and if you feel that you have an idea to help the Division then please don't feel you can't speak to someone. Your idea or suggestion could be wasted if you don't speak up to a leader about it and that would be counterproductive. Boundaries: We are all here to help the community grow in members, and spread the knowledge.. but sometimes we as members try to take on all the responsibility. This takes away the chance for others to grow in knowledge and the responsibilities they have at their respective ranks. Please think of others before taking all of this upon yourself, as this could lead to inactivity and a decrease of knowledge that could then spread throughout the division.You don't want others to think you or someone else will automatically handle things when it's their job to be hosting game nights, workshops, or even squad meetings. Remember to use this as an opportunity to teach and pass on the responsibilities, not just handle everything yourself. And also make sure you guys are on the squad club failure to get up on squad club will lead to member being fluffed. (7s) New 7s notes format * A new 7s meeting note format has been posted in all of your division sections. Update: This format is to be completely filled out and posted on a weekly basis. The healthiest way to do so is to rotate the responsibility between ALL MEMBERS of the current 7 staff. This is something that will be continuously discussed and reviewed. Discord Role System topic * There will be a topic posted in the Leaders Discussion area that will outline the roles, their permissions and the responsibilities of each role. The goal is to get every division’s leadership to work in unison with senior leadership to get every server on this system, we’ve taken months to listen to feedback and make this system as user-friendly and efficient as possible. Any feedback is appreciated, and welcomed! Directors * For those who’s divisions have changed you will be allotted a week to co-tackle the division so the new director can learn with an informative guide and the departing director can clean up any last ties and wishes with the division in question. Head-Hunters Poll * Head Hunters is a community wide event designed with the intention of sparking friendly competition amongst the divisions, while giving our more competitive players a venue to show off their skills and represent their divisions. This being said, it is the people of this communities right to have a say in what game / game types they would like to play in or watch throughout the season. Friday (11/9/18) A poll will go live on the forums in which members will be able to vote on which title the first 2019 Head Hunters season will take place on, as well as the ability to express desired game types. The poll will be live for 2 weeks so please encourage all members to vote! Making Decisions * When you are making decisions for your division, there should be a multitude of factors to take in consideration. Make sure that you consult your 7 staff or officer staff depending on your role to get their opinions and views. They are experts on your division/squad as much as you are. Once you come to a decision and plan to roll out the change, make sure to thoroughly explain why you came to that decision. If you can’t defend your decision then maybe it’s not a good decision, it’s your roll to make sure that all decisions made are to better the division backed by solid reasoning. Those explanations will make the process smooth as well as shows your members that you care about them by giving them the time and reasoning. Member Retention* This week, try and find someone in your squad or division to game with that you wouldn't usually! One problem with fast growing squads is that they forget one fundamental thing, recruiting the members is only half the battle, keeping those members engaged and active is just as important as recruiting! Step 2: The following week, HSI Staff will use that information to update each division’s history thread in the HSI Divisional History Section. Conflict Resolution/Communication - It is inevitable when being a part of a community (especially in leadership) that you will not see eye to eye with someone else or even argue/ fight with people over issues. In times like this, it is of the utmost importance to handle these situations as they come and not bottle it up. Sweeping issues under the rug or simply stating that “things will never change” are both actions that will not only increase the scale of the issue, but also cause many more in the future. If you have issues with someone, it is important to vocalize these things in a 1 on 1 party, giving the other person the opportunity to explain themselves and present a solution. If you don't know there is an issue, how can you solve it or help to prevent it in the future? Each division had a good showing and really made the event special. We’d also like to give a big thanks to T&E for all of the work they put in to really make this event special. It takes a lot to put in work and organize an event especially during the holidays and for that we are very appreciative. 2018 Of the Years - OTY’s are now up and will stay up until December 16th. PLEASE GO NOMINATE! Everyone should have atleast someone they feel deserves an OTY so go nominate them! Its a huge motivator and really shows your appreciation. Division size is important but isn't an effective method of measuring a divisions success. Being the largest division in the community doesn't always mean it is the healthiest. You could have 400+ members but have very little activity. Activity, retention and recruitment are all the key aspects of a healthy division and squad. Keep that in mind when looking at your divisions stats. Always remember that there is a difference between recruiting and retaining. While it’s important that we recruit, we should be in the business of retaining members. Workshops on member retainment are important to the structure of a squad. So now is the time to get out there and recruit !! New Years Goals So with the New Year approaching quickly, it’s the perfect time to evaluate how your divisions are doing. Take this time during the slow period before Christmas to determine the health of your squads and how you can use the resurgence of life into your divisions to your benefit. At this time, there is no new threat to KSI but we never know when one might emerge. If you we do these things now and make them a habit, hopefully new officers will learn to do the same. We must remain professional when in party's with members of KSI and non members of KSI to ensure KSI's positive reputation is maintained. Divisional Goals Divisional leadership, your goals for the month are still be monitored and checked on in terms of steps taken and movement towards goal. Clan Ops Notes: Utilizing the Forums (3/5/19) It's important that we are making sure we are being active on the Forums and pushing all members to also be active. The earlier people are introduced to the Forums the better. It gives people a chance to get familiarised with the layout and general navigation on the forums as it can be daunting at first. Then when they become an officer they will already know the basics. Forum Conduct Policy: Up-voting/Down-voting (3/13/19) When utilizing the forums, there are several liberties and features members can utilize, primarily the ability to up-vote and down-vote certain topics and posts. We in clan-ops leadership want to make our stance on this feature perfectly clear: these features are NOT to be used in petty or unprofessional manners. Examples being: Up voting court case rulings not in favor of members or application denials in the rejoin/join area Down voting divisional transfers for fellow members Regardless of how you may feel in the moment, keep that to yourself and act appropriately. Our goal in KSI is to provide happiness and safety for our members. Petty actions making them feel bad for their personal decisions will not be tolerated, no acceptions. Discord and Omega Access Uniformity (3/13/19) Divisional leadership, it is important that we keep uniformity between Omega access and Discord access for all 7s. Although co-founders in your division share what squads they are directly over, they should have access to see all squad chats as well as see all squad details on omega. As we push for more quality and in-sync divisional leadership, it is important to understand that as a 7, you should be aware of all things in your division, not just what you are specifically over. If this access is not currently shared by your divisional leadership, please contact your director. Meme Channel Moderation In Discord Servers (3/13/19) We always want our members to laugh and have fun especially when doing so with fellow squad mates and division members. However when doing so, you are still a member of this community so it is important to think about the memes and images you post. All memes posted need to be Code of Conduct friendly or they will be removed and the posting party may have consequences. If you have to double think if your allowed to post something, odds are you shouldn't. Share that with friends personally and know your audience. SPRING BREAK: KSI's annual Spring Break community event is just around the corner! With that being said, its imperative that all divisions get their teams signed up before the deadline! There are infinite resources around you via fellow officers, divisional leadership, senior leadership, and most importantly, the forums where all practices and procedures are documented for replication. If you don’t know how to do something, look it up or simply ask and those around you will help. Spirit Week Game Nominations Exciting News! As Spirit Week is designed to bring out the best in our members and to show off divisional pride, each division will play a part in deciding what games are selected for the main events! Due by next Friday (5/17/19), each division is to come up with 3 suggested games they would like to see events for as well as the gametype associated with them. After your division has selected, relay that information to your director for submission. Time to get hype! OMEGA Update It is really important as leaders within the community to ensure we are making sure we are logging into the Omega on a regular basis. We have noticed a number of people not logging in days at a time.EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, once someone reaches the 7 day mark, unless you are on an approved leave of absence your Omega account will be automatically suspended and further repercussions shall occur.
