This fact however, rings especially true for all ranking members of SSGT or higher. The excuse of “I was never trained how to do this” is NO LONGER VALID. There are infinite resources around you via fellow officers, divisional leadership, senior leadership, and most importantly, the forums where all practices and procedures are documented for replication. If you don’t know how to do something, look it up or simply ask and those around you will help. Holiday Meetings Remember that Squad and Officer Meetings can be rescheduled if they fall on a holiday. With that in mind send one invite maybe two but DO NOT spam invites till they join. Our members and officers deserve to enjoy holidays with their loved ones. OMEGA Update It is really important as leaders within the community to ensure we are making sure we are logging into the Omega on a regular basis. We have noticed a number of people not logging in days at a time.EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, once someone reaches the 7 day mark, unless you are on an approved leave of absence your Omega account will be automatically suspended and further repercussions shall occur. Warning 1 results in Rank suspension, strike 2 results in demotion. Support Each Other As an officer it’s important to show support for your fellow officers. If a fellow officer is hosting a game night and your online either by yourself or with fellow squad mates you can and should join the game night and bring the others with you. We all know what it’s like to have no one show up to a game night but we can support each other, we’re all in this together. Recruiting Techniques When we are out recruiting, after a while using the same methods and techniques can make it seem a little stale and sometimes we won't see the same results. Change your methods, try using a different message, perhaps jump into a recruiting party, there are numerous ways to alter the way you recruit. This is when the usage of an LOA is permitted. As of recent, however, there has been a spike of members that abuse this policy simply to shirk responsibilities. All LOA’s need to be approved by the proper chain of command meaning General or higher. Feeling “burnt out” is not a justifiable defense for taking an LOA. If you are granted an LOA yet you’re online playing every day with people more than you were off of LOA, you will be liable to face punishment and a possible rank loss. Integrate Recruits: It is important that when bringing in new members off of certain games, we as officers need to remember to help integrate and play those games with them. It does no good to recruit and dump them off with other people/squads all the time. It is our responsibility when we recruit someone of quality (somebody we want to play with) to hang out with them and show them the KSI way. Invite only parties: It is important to remember that during peak hours officers should not be in invite only parties. It sets a bad precedent for our members and might make them think that we don’t want to include them. Sometimes we have to be in invite only parties for meetings and lockdowns but for the most part we can and should be in open party's interacting with other people.That is the reason why we joined KSI. The officer staff can and should be a cohesive unit working to solve any and all problems that might arise. Chain Of Command: (7/2/19) I know most of you Divisions have new or newly promoted Directors. Please understand they are there to help you and be apart of your team. If you do not allow your 7 staff to reach out to them for help then it can and will cause issues. Jumping over ranks is not healthy for a division either. If your issue in anyway could cause another issue because it could involve the rank above you then you can jump to the next rank. Also be patient with newly promoted officers of any and all ranks. As we all know you don’t always know everything about the rank till you are sitting in the rank. Cleaning Up Recruit/Squad Clubs & Tags: (7/2/19) Please ensure that members promoted to PVT are being removed from your Recruit Club/Tag. When members are promoted to PVT, please ensure that they are being added to their squad club/tag at the time of the promotion or shortly after. This is to ensure that your tag is always up to date and accurate. This will also ensure that recruits are being promoted, and you are fluffing anyone overdue for promotion as they may no longer be interested in KSI. Generals and 7’s staff should work in unison to ensure that their clubs/tags are accurate and clean. Omega Sign Ins (7/2/19) Please ensure that you and your staff are signing into the omega. There should be no reason why multiple 7's and generals are going offline for 4, 6 or even 7 days. Please remember that we do get notified when you are off for 4 days and when you hit 7 you will serve a rank suspension. (Signs ups for Skarzx’s Class will open on July 15th and close on the July 21st) OPEN DOOR POLICY: (7/2/19) The Open Door Policy is your way as a member or officer to go to a specific rank in your structure that doesn’t necessarily follow the appropriate chain of command. In this RARE instance, this takes place only because you feel that utilizing this would get you the best fix or solution for any issue you have. This is not to be abused or mistaken for skipping chain of command for every little issue you come across because it may be convenient for you at the time. In most scenarios you should utilize your chain of command properly and if you are unable to get a response or solution to the problem after 24 hours since the initial contact, you can then go to the rank above or to the rank you feel could help your situation. Please ensure that you are actively searching for and teaching SGT that want to move up and be an officer within their respective squads. Due to recent changes to clan ops and the structure of squads , the member requirement is less which means trying to maintain the officer to member ratio during healthy growth is difficult. We as leaders need to strive to provide our officers and potential officers an avenue to discuss questions, ideas, concerns etc to help ensure they are not losing motivation and being burnt out. Game plan ideas with your directors, 7’s staff members as well as generals on ideas to help find the next generation of officers. This means Officers especially, you should be setting an example for others to follow. If you have a problem with something posted by another officer. Don’t argue about it in the chat. Follow the chain of command and to take care of the issue. Remember we praise in public and scold in private. Private to CPL: Please ensure that you are keeping track of your private’s and their promotions. Ideally members who go past the 2 week mark of their CPL promotion eligibility should be sent a message directing them to either get a hold of an officer or they will be fluffed out of the squad. As squads continue to prepare and approach splits, it is ideal that you have NO overdue CPL promotions. Upcoming Squad Splits: As we are approaching a lot of upcoming squad splits due to the recent changes to the squads/officer requirements we will be working on a format that will be used as a template for all further squad splits. This template will be used to ensure that all squads in the process of splitting do so under the notion that everything that is required and needing to be done is completed before actually splitting. Division Transfers: Although no Div Leader wants to lose members we as leaders can not deny a Div Transfer. Each member of KSI has the right to move divisions if the division is not working for them anymore. It is unhealthy to keep people in a division if they do not want to be there anymore. Also there should never be ANY stipulation on any transfer for any reason. Understand that your Dir can and should brief the other Div Leader and their Dir of the member they are taking. Change Is Good Change can be difficult at times but it is a necessary step in KSI’s progression. We know that sometimes changes happen and you might not always see completely the reasons for said change, if that is the case it is best to ask in a civilized way the reasons behind the changes instead of jumping to conclusions. As KSI moves forward with a progressive mindset it is important to keep an open mind when it comes to trying new things. Forums Sign In If your having problems Signing in on the forums you can have an officer message Riot on the forums or you can message him on Xbox KSI Riiot 7 and he will be more than happy to help you out. Donors Please make certain to join the VIP section by applying for the donor award. In order to qualify for this you just have to have spent 10 dollars by either subscribing to twitch tier 1 for two months (free with amazon prime) or tier 2 or tier 3 sub. One can also qualify for the donor award by donating bitcoins on twitter or by donating directly on the forums you just need to include a photo with proof of your donation. We have a special 3 day donors only event coming up next month where only those in the VIP section can participate. This is KSI’s way to thank all of you donors for helping out our community. Be respectful Please remember that all of us come from different walks of life. Please treat everyone with dignity and respect that you would like to be shown. Also you should know your audience and if someone doesn't like where the conversation is going or if you step over the line you can apologize and move on to a different subject. It is good to get in the spirit of hyping yourselves up but not at the expense of your fellow KSI members we all get in a bit of a funk squad or division wise but with hard work and dedication it is only temporary. It is also essential that we are ensuring that Privates are being trained and moved up in a timely manner. Once a Private reaches the 2 week period, you need to be asking yourself, "Is this person fluff?". It is also just as important we are ensuring all Corporals are active in some capacity and not just fluff. Part of maintaining your Omega is making sure it matches your squad tag. Keeping on top of the Omega and the squad is part of your job as GENs and its part of the 7 staff to make sure you are maintaining them properly. It is a good habit when you add or remove anyone from one remove or add them from the other right then. Ask them what kind of games and activities they want to see in the squad. Disagreements on Discord (7/23/19) Please remember the the COC applies in your discord server. When chatting in there it is the same as being in a party. We don’t want to break the COC. This means Officers especially, you should be setting an example for others to follow. If you have a problem with something posted by another officer. Don’t argue about it in the chat. Follow the chain of command and to take care of the issue. Remember we praise in public and scold in private. After a lot of discussion we have made the decision to lower the message requirement to 2 messages a week. Try to make the 2 messages one a positive message and the other something related to the squad. For example a game night, the squad meeting, or a workshop. Observe and Report (7/30/19) Open and honest communication is important when we see something that is wrong. Sometimes people make mistakes that they don't know or think they are making but we as officers or members can help point it out to them or those above them. That way they can be corrected before it continues on for too long and becomes a problem. Know Your Limits (8/6/19) It is important that when dealing with KSI issues that might come up not to take on more than you can handle. Even though you might think that you have things handled, it is easy to bite off more than you can chew or burn yourself out. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, it's not a sign of weakness it’s knowing your limits. We are all here to help each other out. When members are promoted to PVT, please ensure that they are being added to their squad club/tag at the time of the promotion or shortly after. This is to ensure that your tag is always up to date and accurate. This will also ensure that recruits are being promoted, and you are fluffing anyone overdue for promotion as they may no longer be interested in KSI. Generals and 7’s staff should work in unison to ensure that their clubs/tags are accurate and clean. Professionalism: Please remember that in this community, we highly value respect between members regardless of rank or stature. It is important that during normal conversation (and specifically when having an issue with a member or leader) that professional tones and languages are maintained. It’s not Training Officers/Potential Officers - Please make sure when training SGT and/or training SSGT - CPT , that you are covering every aspect of what is expected of an officer. Utilize all the educational materials at your disposal such as Recruiting workshops, CEP workshops etc. This will allow you to ensure that the next generation of officers are being prepped and trained properly and that will create the foundation that you squad and division can use to build upon for long term success. (Workshops can be found in the “Performance Operations and CDC” section on the main page of the forums; use the sub-section to find the CEP workshops or contact your PO rep) Back to School Time - Just a reminder school is starting all across the country so with that in mind please be understanding of our school age members. Make sure they understand that communication is the biggest tool. Let them know that they need to inform their officers of their sport schedules and any other schedules anyone has. Trust and Truth - Part of being a member of KSI is having Integrity. A large Part in having a successful squad is always telling the truth and trusting that those officers above you can help out. We know that trust has to be earned (as it should be) but it is important to remember that those above you have been through said situation or know someone that can help. Withholding information hoping that it gets better or that I can quietly fix it later before someone notices is not healthy. Officers are here to help and can only help if they know what’s going on. Communication - It is important to keep in constant and open communication with your fellow officers. The officer staff can and should be a cohesive unit working to solve any and all problems that might arise. It is crucial that you maintain open communication by posting in your perspective officer chats, private messages or by getting in party's together. You guys and gals are a team and should always be working together toward the greater good for your squad/division. To be patient with each other and work together toward a common goal of better Communication with everyone. That way other hostile gaming community's can't trick unsuspecting members into joining their party's. Stay Safe Please remember to be safe and check party invites. It's a really good idea to check the profile of people especially if it's someone you don't know or somebody that doesn't usually invites you to party's. A few things to look at that are dead giveaways would be a 0 gamerscore, also look at the number of people following them. If it turns out to be a fake account just block them and move on once they are blocked they can no longer send you party invites or messages and you can safely go back to playing games and having fun. You guys and gals are a team and should always be working together toward the greater good for your squad/division. New Log Channel (Gens and up) You might have noticed a new useful channel in Discord server. It is an audit log of all deleted/edited messages. This channel Will help the Gens and 7's staff maintain and monitor what happens in their prospective server. If something was said in a channel but you were busy or at work this channel let's you know exactly what was said so that appropriate action can be taken to ensure a better KSI experience for all the members. Posting of screen shots and other info that needs to be filed for the division can be posted in this channel as well. I think it will be easier to look back on them and find them. Also GENs and up are the only ones with access. Invite only parties It is important to remember that during peak hours officers should not be in invite only parties. It sets a bad precedent for our members and might make them think that we don’t want to include them. Member Retention Every rank from RCT all the way up is important! Too often do we see CPLs and PVTs getting lost within the daily doings of the community. As leaders and members of the community it is our job to ensure all members are being included in all activities within the squad and division. If there is a member you haven't spoken too or seen in a squad meeting for a while, reach out to them, see what's happening. Ask them what kind of games and activities they want to see in the squad. It does no good to recruit and dump them off with other people/squads all the time. Dirty laundry When airing one's dirty laundry or a beef with someone don't post it in the casual chat on discord. Be an adult and discuss it with either the person you might have a problem with or bring it up to an officer. The casual chat is there for people to chat and have fun. There is no need to bring negativity into the chat that just ruins everyone's day. Treating Your Officers Right One of the biggest things we have as leaders is the ability to treat others with respect and communication. Treating your officers like team members and working together will be more productive for the squad and division. Having an issue in the ranks of your division and not reporting it to the leadership can and will become very toxic. Withholding issues because “I did not want to say anything” is a problem and needs to be corrected immediately. We don't want it to wait and fester. Instead we want to get ahead of any issues and correct any issues before they become big issues resulting in rank suspension or removal from KSI. Waiting until an issue gets to where squads and divisions are losing members and officers is not healthy. Leadership Development Class Sign-Ups: This will be the last Leadership Development Class of 2019. After the first of the year we will start the classes again. We want you! Are you interested in becoming an officer? Squads are always looking for more people to help out and give back to this wonderful community. If you have some extra time on your hands becoming an officer is fairly simple. You can host game nights, promote people up maybe even help recruit someone and show them the KSI love. If your interested you can ask one of your officers or your GEN about it. They are always looking for more people to help out and they would certainly appreciate the help. The more helpers the lighter the workload. Member Retention Every rank from RCT all the way up is important! Too often do we see CPLs and PVTs getting lost within the daily doings of the community. As leaders and members of the community it is our job to ensure all members are being included in all activities within the squad and division. If there is a member you haven't spoken too or seen in a squad meeting for a while, reach out to them, see what's happening. Ask them what kind of games and activities they want to see in the squad or how things can be improved to make things better for them. Dirty laundry When airing one's dirty laundry or a beef with someone don't post it in the casual chat on discord. Be an adult and discuss it with either the person you might have a problem with or bring it up to an officer. The casual chat is there for people to chat and have fun. There is no need to bring negativity into the chat that just ruins everyone's day. Treating Your Officers Right One of the biggest things we have as leaders is the ability to treat others with respect and communication. Treating your officers like team members and working together will be more productive for the squad and division. Then it follows to the Co-Founder, Founder (If Applicable), to the Divisional Leader. The first point of contact will need the time and opportunity to handle the issue so until that occurs do not continue to skip rank. Work continues (officers on up) We are nearing the end of the year again and things naturally start to slow down a bit. It is important to remember that there is still work to be done in order to help maintain our squads. It is really easy to start getting a little too relaxed and forget the little things like posting role call and doing promotions. So please as always have fun and continue helping out when and where you can we are all in this wonderful community together. Change Is Good Change can be difficult at times but it is a necessary step in KSI’s progression. We know that sometimes changes happen and you might not always see completely the reasons for said change, if that is the case it is best to ask in a civilized way the reasons behind the changes instead of jumping to conclusions. As KSI moves forward with a progressive mindset it is important to keep an open mind when it comes to trying new things. That is the way that people learn how to handle situations if they don't know the answer they will find out and that is how people learn, that's how the people above them learned and know all that they know. Bye Bye Numbers: We continue to grow and mature as a community and strive to improve ourselves. One of those areas is to get rid of old antiquated ideas doing it because that's how it's always been done. As of now there will no longer be a number cast system for LT's or CPT's the only 2 ranks in KSI that has had them. The numbers don't matter a LT is an LT but sometimes people get the idea that a 1st LT is better than a 3rd LT but that isn't true. This system will make things a lot easier for Gens when it comes time to promote someone up because it doesn't matter the amount of time someone is at said rank or their number it only matters who is doing the most work as it should be. There will still be max one GEN, 3 CPT's, 3 LT's, and of course 3 SSGT's per each squad. In short, we hope that this will promote the ideal that the LTs and the Cpts are all equals and teammates without anything that could cause a divide among them. Department Ops Performance Operations When it comes to hosting workshops the Only Workshops That currently have an award are Forums Certified Workshop, Basic Training, New Member, Train The Trainer, Squad Leadership, and Divisional Leadership which these workshops fall into the CEP the other ones do not at this time. No Meetings (12/17/19) Due to Xmas and New Year's NO MANDATORY MEETINGS WHATSOEVER the next two weeks starting Xmas week. The notes will still be posted.
