    CEP: Recruiting Workshop
Created 2/22/2021 by KSI DC 7 (assisted by KSI Fenny 77, KSI Swag 77, KSI ATH3NA 7)
    "Scouting and Recruiting"
Workshop Introduction: The purpose of this workshop is for members to learn how to scout, vet, and recruit new members. Recruiting is one of the most important aspects of Clan Operations within KSI. Through recruiting we increase not only the size of our squads and division but potentially bring a future leader into the community. Something key to keep in mind is: quality over quantity. The people we bring in are people that we will play with all the time. So be as sure as possible before recruiting them that they’ll be a good fit in our KSI family.
Workshop Occurrence: This workshop will be offered at the discretion of Divisional Leadership and Squad Leadership: SSGT and higher.

    ⤙ Pre-Workshop (Conversation Starters & Discussion Topics)
The following questions may be used as conversation starters before beginning your workshop. It's important to make sure you begin by getting everyone thinking about the topic at hand.
How were you asked to join KSI? Why did you decide to join? What do you remember about your recruitment? Was your recruitment an enjoyable experience? Why or why not? Was your recruiter knowledgeable? Could they answer all your questions?
⤙ Workshop Core (Workshop Topics, Progression, and Key Points)
Workshop Curriculum Introduction: Throughout this workshop you will learn how to scout and vet potential recruits, remove potential recruits from toxic environments, how to ask potential recruits to join the community, and the recruiting process. This will provide all potential and current officers strengthen their scouting and recruiting skills, which will increase their chances at successful recruiting.
    ◅ 1. Scouting Recruits
In order to recruit you have to find people to recruit. This process of recruiting is known as scouting recruits. There are multiple ways to scout recruits, but there is one similarity: you must get to know the people you are inviting to the community. KSI wants quality over quantity. We do not want to invite everyone just to have higher numbers. This will lead to toxic people being brought into the community, which will cause unnecessary drama and problems that will hurt the community in the long run. Never feel guilty if a member turns toxic. Although your name is in their bio, that does not mean you will be directly responsible if a member turns toxic after recruitment. Playing with members and getting to know them will allow you to feel more confident in your decision to invite potential members you feel will benefit the community. Here are some methods that will help find people to possibly recruit.

    Looking For Group (LFG)
When posting or joining an LFG know that your odds of recruiting are better if you bring a friend or two. The potentials will see the friendship and the communication between KSI members, which could spark their own interest in joining the community. The only negative side of this is that the more KSI members in your party means there are less potential members in your party.

    Posting LFG
There are multiple ways you can post an LFG in order to get people interested in KSI. Here are a few examples:
Post a KSI is recruiting LFG Ex: “KSI is a positive gaming community currently looking for active members. Age 15+” with tags new players welcome, causal, must have mic  Post a LFG for the game type you are playing “Nuketown 24/7. Don’t care about KD just have fun. Age 15+” with tags new players welcome, causal, must have mic * You do not have to retype your LFG every single time. You can do the following to easily refresh your post without having to stay in the club (have the attendees do this while explaining it if they are not the xbox app):
Click the Xbox button on your controller Go to People/Clubs tab Click LFG Click view history Click your latest post Hit post topic Joining LFG
If you do not want to wait for people to respond to an LFG, then you may like responding to other people’s LFGs. There are a few pros to this method:
This will allow you to join parties quickly This will allow you to join full parties within a matter of moments instead of filling your own party, which could take forever depending on the game mode you are trying to play You can hop parties quickly if you do not think the people in the party are suited for KSI Tags to look for when joining a LFG:
Mic Required New Players Welcomed Cooperative Casual * You can have multiple people in a squad doing this at a time, which results in a huge number of possible recruits per hour. Ex: If you have four officers and each officer spends 1 hour in a party of 5 potentials that equals 20 potential recruits.

    Inviting Friends of Members
This is one of the easiest ways to get new members into KSI. You play with members as an officer on a daily basis. While playing with members (especially new members) ask them if they would have any friends that would be interested in joining KSI. Word of mouth recruiting is great because they are more likely to join if their friend asks them compared to some random they do not know, and you as an officer can help answer any questions that the potential recruit might have or to ease any doubts or concerns that may prevent them from joining.

    Random Lobby
You may find while playing in a random lobby a person that has a mic and seems cool. If the person is playing in a random lobby, then they might not have any friends or know how to use the LFG. If they are cool, then invite them to a party, play with them, and then you can ask if they are interested in joining the community.

Inviting non-KSI members to KSI events
You may find that people are interested in KSI but want to know more about the community before deciding on whether or not to join. Inviting non-KSI members to game nights can significantly increase your chance at successfully recruiting these people. Inviting them to your squad’s game night allows them to meet and have fun with KSI members, proves that they will have people to play games with while in KSI, and lets them experience what KSI is all about before making a decision. If they are still hesitant, then continue to invite them without pressuring them to join. You will have a better chance of recruiting them the more they get to know you (comfortable around you) and the more they hang around KSI members (use the line “You already play with us a lot, why not join?”).
    Optional Discussion Topic:
Which method do you feel would be best to use when recruiting? What are some other ways that you may find potential recruits? Tip: Once you’ve found someone who's fun to play with and seems like a good fit for KSI, add them as a favorite on your friends list. Having them as a favorite and being notified when they’re on can be helpful for a few different reasons. First, maybe you're not sure if you want to bring them in and want to play with them more to get to know them better. Second, maybe they don’t have time to be recruited right then so you can recruit them another time they’re on. Third, if you chose to recruit them at that time, knowing when they’re on is helpful for integrating them into the community.

◅ 2. Removing Potential Recruits from Toxic Environments
If you are playing with a potential and they seem interested, but you are in a toxic lobby, then here are a few steps to get them out of the toxic environment:
Let the group know you are leaving and say something like “Hey! I gotta go, but it was fun playing with you all. Add me if you want to play some more later Add the potential recruits only (if they add you back then you have a chance) Leave the party and invite them to a separate party Apologize for the toxic lobby environment Ask them if they would like to join KSI *Another method of removing recruits from a toxic environment would be removing any toxic members from the party if you are the party leader.
Note: If you have to actually get off of Xbox, message the potential saying hey maybe we can play later and invite them when you are both online again.

◅ 3. Inviting Potential Recruits to KSI
Do not overthink this process! The worst a potential member can do is tell you they do not want to join KSI. Do not be afraid to ask them if they would like to join. If they tell you no, then do not push the issue; however, ask them what their concerns or things that would prevent them from joining. When they express their concerns/problems give them the information that solves that problem. Ex: “I don’t want to change my gamertag”. “Actually, we don’t force you to change your gamertag” If they say they want to join, then you may now start the recruiting process.
Note: At this point in the workshop you can go through some common concerns/questions that people have and how to approach them to possibly have potential recruit change their mind and decide to join KSI.
    Optional Discussion Topic:
Why can it be hard to ask a potential member if they want to join KSI?
    ◅ 4. Recruiting Process
Before you ever begin doing your first recruit you should do three things. First, go over the process in your head a few times. Once you get a feel for it, you should request to mock recruit an officer of your squad to practice. Lastly you should look for your own recruit and before you do the process, make sure an officer is with you. Understand that you will miss a few things or mess up a few times starting out but if you keep at it and practice in your spare time, it becomes a lot easier.
Tip: *The person running the workshop should pretend they are recruiting their workshop attendees when covering this portion (makes the workshop interactive and encourages questions).
    Order of recruitment:
Security Check Vetting Code of Conduct Rank Structure Privacy Settings Bio/Location Add Officers Add Recruit Club Post Recruitment into Discord
    Security Check
Before going over the code of conduct, there are a few things you should check about any potential recruit. This is what we call a "Security Check" and it helps ensure that we are being diligent in making sure the recruit is eligible to join. These are the following things you need to check:
Gamerscore: Requirement is 500 (Lockdown Requirement is 1000) Must have friends (Quantity doesn't matter) No Black listed or Security Risked members on Friends List No "Squad Tag" or "Squad Club" that belongs to another gaming community Note: KSI current blacklist and security risk members/communities are: J2H, [AG is On Notice]
    Vetting
Must be 15 Years or Older Have they ever been a part of a clan or another xbox community like ours before? If yes, they must go to www.ksiforums.org and post a join application If former KSI member, direct them to the JOIN/REJOIN section If no, then proceed with the recruitment Do they have a working Mic? Kinect mics do not qualify as a working mic. * Join/Rejoin Applications: When directing recruits to the Join/Rejoin application here are some additional details to assist you: If they are a former member of KSI whether in .org or .com they post in the rejoin section and post a rejoin application. Otherwise all applicants will post a Join Application.
*Things that constitute a clan or community:
Clan- a clan is a group of 12 or more people playing one game type with a clan tag and a squad club that typically require a tryout. Ex: ISO xCrunkx- ISO is a NBA 2k clan that has a club and a clan tag Community- a group of 50 or more members with a similar recruiting process, similar rank structure, a squad/community club, a clan tag, and (more than likely) a discord server.
    Code of Conduct
At this point if the recruit has passed all checks then the next part of the process is reading them the KSI Code of a Conduct. Recruits must be read and then agree to the Code of Conduct before you proceed onward.
Note: When covering this part, read off each CoC then give a brief explanation as if you were recruiting each of the attendees. Before reading it, let them know if they have any questions during to ask them.
KSI Members are to always represent KSI as a positive gaming community. Toxic behavior, or actions unbecoming of a KSI member is not permitted at any time, for any reason. (Stressing “know your party” is key here because we joke around but you never know who can take a joke or what jokes are offensive to some so learn who you are talking to before making certain jokes) Prohibited actions and behaviors include, but are not limited to: harassment, sexual harassment, slander, console and gameplay modding, stolen valor, theft, illegal drug use, posting of pornography or any media of an inappropriate nature, blackmail, and piracy. Squad leadership is responsible for the scheduling and hosting of game nights and workshops, as well as the enforcement of the KSI Code of Conduct. (Officers make sure game nights run smoothly, keeping it professional while fun) KSI has an Open Door Policy, any member can go to any leader with any issues or ideas, but it is highly encouraged members follow the proper chain of command to ensure matters are handled appropriately. (Let them know that you will explain chain of command after finishing the CoC) KSI is an activity based community. Meaning, if you cannot attend game nights or any other KSI related events for an extended period of time without notifying your chain of command, you could be removed from KSI. A KSI member never leaves another KSI member behind. We ask that you refrain from “rage quitting” in the middle of a game or match. If you sign up to participate in an event, it is your responsibility to notify the appropriate staff/members in a timely manner if you cannot attend. (Also, if you’re in a party with other members and you have to leave make sure to let people know. You don’t have to give an explanation unless you want to but please let them know out of respect) The lowest age allowed to be recruited into KSI is 15, however the divisions within KSI may have higher standards, this policy is in place at the discretion of KSI Senior Leadership. KSI members are not permitted to be a part of any other clan or community other than KSI. (while in KSI) All KSI members are to have been read, and agree to the KSI Code of Conduct. Failure to adhere to these standards and policies will result in removal from KSI.
KSI senior leadership reserves the right to alter the Code of Conduct at any time.
Note: Ask them “So you think you can follow these simple codes?” “Do you understand and agree to follow this code of conduct?” They have to Agree or the Recruitment is over. IF they do agree, then move on to Rank Structure.

    Rank Structure
Now we move on to rank structure where we give the recruit a brief explanation on what ranks are in KSI and how to obtain them. Once you have finished reading the ranks and giving the brief explanation for each of them if they have any questions.
    Squad Members:
Recruit (RCT) Private (PVT) Corporal (CPL) Sergeant (SGT)-eligible with name change reflecting KSI after PVT promo Squad Leadership:
Staff Sergeant (SSGT) Lieutenant (LT) Captain (CPT) General (GEN) Division Leadership:
Co-Founder (Co-Fo) Founder (FO) Division Leader (DIV) Community Leadership:
Director (DIR) Senior Director (SDIR) Chief of Staff (COS)/ Chief of Clan Operations (COCO)
    Privacy Settings
Now we will move on to Privacy Settings changes. I recommend after your security check that you have the recruit unfriend you. Not being their friend will allow you to verify if they change their settings correctly They will add you back after you are finished checking their settings (once they have completed their settings and bio/location)
Here is how you get to your privacy settings:
Go to Privacy Settings Hit center Home button on Xbox controller Scroll and select the Profile picture Select “My Profile” Scroll down to Privacy Settings Select “View Details and Customize” *This may be different depending on your Dashboard setup
At this point in the recruitment you would walk the new recruit through the changes in their settings. Make sure you are following through the procedures that your division requires (some divisions prefer different times when to close friends list). Please note if the member is unable to change their settings, refused to change their settings or is on a child account and doesn't have access to their parent account then the RECRUITMENT IS OVER. Let them know the settings that are required are usually already set to what is needed.

    Bio/Location
Please inform the recruit that the following information is like our Uniform/ID badge/Resume/etc. This is to keep things organized and for security purposes. This information shows who the member was recruited by, promoted by, as well as their Squad, Division and Rank within KSI, which allows other KSI members to know who they are when they are sent a friend request, message, or an invite.
    How to Get to Bio/Location:
Go to Customize Profile Same steps in Privacy settings except don't hit privacy settings on Profile page. Scroll down to “Customize Profile” Location:
In ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, the recruit will enter the following information. The format is: KSI then SQUAD NAME then DIVISION INITIALS then RANK Example: KSI IMPERIAL SL RCT  There should be nothing else written in the location.  Bio:
The format is: Recruited by “Name of Recruiter” on “Date of Recruitment” Example: Recruited by KSI DC 7 on 05/28/2021 If the Recruit was referred by another member, they can put "Referred by (insert name of referral)" in their bio AFTER recruited by. Your division may not do this. Follow that procedure if applicable. Any additional things in their bio that they wish to keep must go AFTER the KSI information and must follow our Code of Conduct. Note: Make sure to DOUBLE CHECK the Location and Bio, very carefully, to check for any misspellings, improper capitalization, punctuation, or format.

    Add Officers
Simply walk the member through your Friends List and instruct them to add the correct individuals. Doing this in alphabetical order is the most efficient way. To help with this, you should always have an updated list of officers and divisional 7s staff for each squad on their discord channel for quick reference. When they add the officers, explain to the member what rank they are.

    Add Recruit Club
After finishing the profile bio/location and adding the officers, you can then have the recruit scroll to the top of the Following section where the clubs are. Then you will have them request to join your DIVISIONAL recruit club. If you are a Sergeant doing the recruitment, then have your recruit request the club through one of the Officers friends list. Please note also that some divisions do not allow SGT to recruit.
Note: If your division does it differently then use their method instead. (They may have specific people added or just the recruiter.)
If your Division uses Recruit Tags then have the recruit add them.
Note: If you are a Sergeant doing the recruitment, have your Recruit request the club through one of the Officers friends list. Please note also that some divisions do not allow SGT to recruit.

    Post Recruitment into Discord
If you are a SGT doing the recruitment, then you will send a direct message on Discord to one of the officers or your General. The officer will proxy post for the SGT in the #squad_security_and_stats channel on Discord. Add in their top 3 games or any quick info that may be helpful. Example: Can't play on Tuesday's, When on Hulu it's their wife, etc.  (may vary by division).
Example: Recruited CoolRecruit456 on 02/01/21. Top 3 games are CoD Black Ops Cold War,  Rocket League, and CoD MW. If you are an Officer doing the recruitment, then you will directly post in the #squad_and_security_stats channel on Discord. (This may vary by division)
Example: Recruited CoolRecruit456 on 02/01/21. Top 3 games are CoD Black Ops Cold War,  Rocket League, and CoD MW. *At this point you have finished the recruitment, double checked your work to avoid pending, and notified your officers and 7s staff to be on the lookout for a new member to be accepted on the recruit club.

    ◅ 5. Final Recruiter Instructions
Now you will inform the recruit that after 1-2 days they will get AUTOMATICALLY promoted to Private, after they have been accepted. This means they need to be on the lookout for an officer to get with them to do the promotion. Let them know to go ahead and download Discord and create an account. They will be added to the server during the Private promotion. Tell the recruit to make sure they always show ONLINE. This is so officers can get with them for promotions, game night, and meeting invites.

⤙ Post-Workshop (Conversation Starters and Discussion Topics)
The following questions can be used to conclude your workshop. You do not have to ask every question. Pick the ones that you believe will have the most impact and benefit for your workshop group.
What are a few ways you can scout a recruit? Why should we play with members before we invite them into our community? How can you remove a potential recruit from a toxic environment? If you are recruiting and you do not know the answer to a question a recruit asks, then what should you do? How would a recruit hit pending? How can you prevent a recruit from hitting pending?

KSI DC 77 got a reaction from VENM VII in KSI VENUM 7 Die Hard
Venum has been through a lot in his life and in KSI. Since the award is about hardships with in KSI, then I think Venum is a perfect candidate for this award. Venum is by far a loyal member to KSI, and not many people can say the same. A lot of people would quit if they were in Venum's shoes. Venum has been in all aspects of the community facing hardships in each one. Venum has dealt with harassments on the forums after people's accounts have been banned from the forums. He has dealt with insults after insults from his work in AAP when having to point out people don't qualify for awards. He took a lot of flak when he was the department head of PO, and he had to watch as it closed down while he was the person in charge. That was not the only time he had to sit by and watch something he loved die.  He had issues with a few people that would constantly go behind his back and be manipulative, which saw his division close down while he was a division leader as well. He was called a failed clan-ops leader by some co-founder and divisional leaders to his face because of this. Instead of lashing back or quitting, he kept persevering, which is what this award is all about in the end.  When you earn rank the way Venum has there is a target on your back. He is a senior mod in web ops, a former AAP senior staff, former PO Department Head, a member of the LC, and a former Division Leader. He has been insulted multiple times and taken a lot of things on the chin in LC, clan ops, department ops, and web ops, yet he has not tucked his tail and ran. He has set a great example of what we need. He is more deserving than anyone I know  and is a true die-hard in my opinion.

Reasoning why they deserve this - King really sets the bar for what it means to be a leader in this community. Outside of his duties as CEO, he's also filling the role of Director of Demonic Mayhem. I always see him involved with not just the officers staff, but the members as well. It's refreshing to see someone in his position still giving it their all, and showing everyone from new recruits all the way up what KSI is all about.
    Division Leader
    Gamertag (Rank - Division/Squad) - KSI Joe 7 DM/Sinister
Link to forums account - @KSI Joe 7
Reasoning why they deserve this - Joe continues to be a force to be reckoned with. I've never seen the man tire of putting forth his best effort. When times get tough, he doubles down, and finds another gear. He makes his presence known to each and every member, and is always there to lend a helping hand. His multitude of awards and nominations can attest to that.

    Gamertag (Rank - Division/Squad) - KSI DntAsk 7 DM Venom/Wrath
Link to forums account - @KSI DntAsk 7
Reasoning why they deserve this - This lady won't even let sickness stop her. Her 50% is better than most people's 100%. Pam has found herself being Co-Fo and acting Gen a couple of times now, but never lets it dampen her desire to help others succeed and grow. Don't believe me? Look at her other awards. There's a reason she continues to be nominated.
    SSGT
    Gamertag (Rank - Division/Squad) - KSI CaRnaGe DM/Venom
Link to forums account - @KSI CaRnaGe 9055
Reasoning why they deserve this - This man consistently strives to be better, learn, and help others. He's always looking to help however he can. His desire to grow and learn more is contagious, as well as his welcoming demeanor and personality. I expect to see great things in his future.
    SGT
    Gamertag (Rank - Division/Squad) - KSI Aether DM/Wrath
Link to forums account - @God of Snacks
Reasoning why they deserve this - As adamant as he is about not being an officer, he's the one person that many of us agree would be perfect for the role. He makes it a point to get to know new members and make them feel welcome. If someone needs help, he's there. If they have a question, he makes sure they get the information they need. He's one of the most reliable members you could ask for, and proves it day in and day out.
    Forum Staff (ADMIN/MODS/DEPARTMENT HEADS)
Gamertag (Rank - Division/Squad) - KSI DC 7  Head of Education
Link to forums account - @KSI DC 7
Reasoning why they deserve this - I'm sure it gets said pretty often, but the guy knows his stuff. He's always in the workshops and classrooms, and ready to help however he possibly can. He gives you every bit of the information you need, and presents it in a way that anyone can absorb and retain it with ease.

    Gamertag (Rank - Division/Squad) KSI IZZY 7 DM/Wrath
Link to forums account - @KSI Izzy 7
Reasoning why they deserve this - Since coming back to KSI, he's been awesome to get to know and hang around. With his recent step up to SSGT, he's proving that he has what it takes to help those around him grow and succeed. He's always engaging with members in squad, as well as the rest of the division. He thinks outside of the box when it comes to keeping members engaged. Looking forward to seeing his rise in KSI again.

Third times a charm right? If rogue doesn't get this award then it's very clear that no one will ever earn this award this award again and we might as well retire it. I'll be honest with yall this man has went through so much strife in his real life and in KSI and somehow he manages to make time for every member who needs him. Imagine injuring yourself at work, having to sue the company, getting fired, some personal issues dealing with marriage/getting divorced, losing over 50 pounds in a 2 month span because your body rejects anything and everything, and having to sell your house. Sounds tough? Only 40% of what rogue went through in the last two years that I've known him. You want to talk about perseverance. When he first joined KSI he was a LT after a few weeks in basically doing the Generals job. By two months he was the general, fluffing out 50% of the squad, doing all recruitment, promotions, and trainings himself, stays at the squad level bc he denied his own promotion to co-founder twice so the squad didn't die putting more burdens on his shoulders for the members. Splits his squad instead of becoming a cofo. Finally has a replacement after I transfer over.. has to deal with my stubborn ass. We split the squad 3 months after the last squad split.  He's over the new squad as well which starts to tank after the split bc the break. Oh and the kicker.. whenever a squad is in dire need of helo/on the brink of shutdown/mass chaos js erupting  he is the guy who gets called in to fix it all. That's just clan ops. Dude figuratively dies for education.  The amount or work he does to create and revamp workshops and mentor through lead classes is phenomenal. Ngl I said it earlier and I'll say it again. if rogue doesn't get die hard after skarzx came back from retirement to witness on this.. this is his third time being nominated, and he has done all this for the community we just need to remove the award from our system
Edit: he also lost his grandmother which was the person he was the closest to and still.didnt take a damn loa. He literally brought his Xbox so the members of the community were not without. Dude is an upstanding member.. the end

Where do I begin with DC? This man has played a vital role in many aspects of this community. He has been a Co-Founder for the last several months, was a co-head of AAP, is the current Head of Education, and was recently inducted into the SL Hall Of Fame. DC has done an amazing job with being there for his members and is the ideal person to talk to about anything regarding information within KSI. There is no doubt that this man deserves this award.
