I personally believe it to be in the best interest of us who want to use the forums to encourage more people to participate in they're div chat/ cup points. It allows them to then venture the rest of the forums. Which gives us more people posting in general chats, becoming members of departments, etc. Again, I am sorry for my previous tone. But at the same time if we're on here talking literally all day like we've been doing, it's giving us multiple points compared to other divisions who aren't as active on the forums due to either lack of understanding of the site, lack of promotion within the division to be more active and/or real life such as family & work are preventing them from getting on to help their Division. Along with many other possible reasons. Believe me, i was a bit outraged myself but at the end of the day it shouldn't be about Div Cup Points. In my eyes, our conversations on here show other members who are not in DM more of our character/personality than anything else. All of us have been working our tooshe's off whether on the forums or these annual events either on Xbox or social media. & We've been reppin' DM well. The Div Cup shouldn't be the main motivator that's getting people to be more active within the community, but it does feel more rewarding when you have a long term goal that not only benefits yourself but your entire division. With these recent changes & not only our dismay/outrage, I'm sure we can find a different way to earn points while still having fun & not being so competitive in every aspect of the point system. & It's not like we don't have moderators on here that won't listen to our concerns & try to compromise with us (again) just as they did with the people who wanting this change. It doesn't hurt to try at least But don't give up, keep reppin' DM & stay positive! We are DEMONIC MAYHEM & we won't let this get us down! How bout we make a topic in the appropriate section & make it known how we feel? State our opinions & reasonings behind why this change positively/negativity effects us. Completely understandable considering you guys have been going crazy in terms of Divisional Cup for DM. What it comes down to is that how Divisional Cup is running now is not the way it was initially intended to run. While it may be doing great things for you all, that is not necessarily the case for a lot of the community. The current changes to Divisional Cup does not mean in any way that way you guys have done since Spring Break means nothing. Although Divisional Cup will now be based off of Annual Events, Division of the year will not be. Meaning that there could very likely be two different divisions that wins Div of the year and Divisional Cup. Everything you guys have worked towards, and will continue to work towards, will be heavily considered at the end of the year when it comes time to announce Division of the Year for 2019. Forums activity, Weekend Warfares, SYTYCW, Montage Submission, AAP Awards, Signature of the Week, Clan ops, etc. will still all play a huge part at the end of the year. The decision from the Board of Directors did not come over night, and it certainly wasn't made to make the divisions that are doing well feel like there hard work and dedication since Spring Break means nothing- because it does. Us as forums staff love what you guys have been doing this last month or so, and would love to see you guys keep it up going forward as long as the rules of the forums are followed. At the end of the day, not only will it be considered for Division of the Year, BUT, activity is also a key asset to a healthy division as you guys have continued to show. I hope this helped clear the air a little bit, and if you guys have any other issues or concerns, feel free to reach out. Keep doing what you guys are doing and results will come. I'm wondering if there's going to be any sort of Points or Scoring system related to the Division of the Year standings. Do you know if the Div OTY Standings will be released each month, just as the Divisional Cup Standings has been? Will there be any overlap? Ex: If one Division sweeps all of the Annual Events but earns 50 less points in the Div OTY Standings. Could they be crowned the Div OTY? Or would it be left up to the BoD or the Leadership Council to decide? Additionally, would Long-Term Events such as HeadHunters be factored in the Div Cup Standings? Or Div OTY? Or potentially both? I'm also curious as to the Social Media participation, and the Forums Challenge participation and where that falls into the equation. For example, if the Twitter Blitz coincides with the Fall Classic, would that count towards the Fall Classic scores and Div Cup? Or Div OTY? Or both? All in all I'm just looking for clarification and overall more detailed information than the summary and highlights that were posted by Impy onto the News Site. To comment on your concerns though, the new Divisional Cup is just an award for points gained during our major events. For every major event, we produce a scoreboard. Only the events on that scoreboard go towards Divisional Cup. As far as Division of the Year, we will be looking at options for that. The two most likely options are either 1) work off of accomplishments, Leaders, improvement, and other criteria to determine which division has performed the best while being an example of what KSI should stand for or 2) allow nominations and testimony from members to make the argument for Division of the Year. A hybrid of those two may also be considered. But there is no longer going to be any type of scoreboard mechanism for Department or Forum participation in naming a Division of the Year. We don’t want people doing things or feeling pressured to do things for points or to make their Division look good. We just want people to participate in the areas they personally want to. Long term events may be factored, but we do not have any on-going so we won’t commit to their inclusion until a groundwork is laid for those events. So the underlying, and very clear message is, do things in this community because you want to. Not because you have to outwork everyone else. We want people to have fun, and it became evident through survey responses and communication with leaders that 3 more months of the previous system would have done more harm than good. Even though neither will count toward the Div Cup, members will still be recognized for their active participation. Awards can still be earned through the AAP for participation in the monthly Twitter Blitz. In addition to this, the divisions most active on social media will be recognized on a monthly basis. As ImPyyy stated before, member participation in these things (social media and forums included) MAY be a part of the hybrid framework utilized to determine Division of the Year. That has yet to be decided. "Do things in this community because you want to." This goes for social media events and forums participation as well.
